Have you felt alone standing for biblical values in America? Do you look around, see the problems in the world, and wonder, “What can I do?” Sadly, in frustration, millions of people choose to sit on the sidelines, and 1 in 3 Christians doesn’t vote. That’s about 25 million people.
The spiritual and moral issues facing our nation will not be resolved in the White House, Congress, or the Supreme Court. Only a spiritual awakening within the people of God can bring about true cultural transformation in this nation.
Our hope and trust are not in the results of the elections, yet we must pray faithfully for the upcoming elections.
So why pray for the elections? There are a few compelling reasons:
- The Bible commands us to pray for those in leadership (including those who are vying to become leaders. (1 Timothy 2:1-4)
- Godly leaders can help slow the erosion of religious liberties in our land.
- Proverbs 14:34 says: Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people. The selection of leaders who understand and lead according to God’s righteous standards can bring great blessings to a nation.
- Scripture also says in Proverbs 11:14, For lack of guidance a nation falls, but many advisors make victory sure. The results of the November election of who leads our country will also determine who advises that leader and how we are guided
America needs all the prayers she can get right now and faith-filled people who will stand in the gap, placing themselves between the nation and the Lord, crying for mercy. Through prayer, God releases His power on our behalf. Please join me in this prayer:
O Lord, God of our fathers, are You not the God who is in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand You….we stand before You in Your presence and cry out to You in this distress and petition You to hear us and save us. Taken from 2 Chronicles 20: 5-9, 12.
